In this course, we will be exploring different tools and techniques that will help unlock your pop production creativity, such as sound design, vocal processing, song arrangement, and tension and release. We will also cover the importance of melody, harmony, and rhythm, and how these sometimes deceptively simple elements work together to create the perfect Pop song.

Day 1: Intro - Deconstruction of what makes a great pop song, tools for generating ideas, tips on creating a catchy melody
Day 2: Your Pop Sound - Sound design and creating your unique aesthetic
Day 3: Arrangement and Song Structure
Day 4: Vocals - Sampling, layering, vocal processing, effects and automation
Day 5: Putting it All Together - Tension and release, production tips and techniques to express a feeling or lyrical idea
About Lauren
LA native and producer Lauren Kop, a self-proclaimed pop addict, has cultivated a vivid musical aesthetic, gaining respected roles within her community such as mentor and emerging talent. Blending musical styles and drawing inspiration from 80s/90s, pop, and dance influences, Lauren has written, produced, and released multiple EPs and a full length album under the artist name mini bear, while also performing in notable LA venues such as The Echo, Moroccan Lounge, The Hi Hat, and Bootleg Theatre.
