One of the reasons we started IO Music Academy was because we saw a need for a more relevant and accessible way to learn music production without the cost or full-time commitment of a traditional music program.
Alongside keeping our pricing affordable and flexible, we’ve also offered many scholarships over the years, both internally and in collaboration with nonprofit partners, all of whom we’re extremely grateful to have worked with. Inspired by those experiences and the wonderful people we’ve met along the way, we've been thinking about how to make IO even more accessible to more people.
Here's where we landed. As of late, it’s become clear that there's a growing number of people who would be a great fit for IO and the community but can’t afford the full program fee, largely due to the cost-of-living increases we've all been experiencing. Because of that, we’ve decided to introduce a financial aid program that will allow eligible students to receive a significant discount on their program fee.
Applications will be reviewed based on several factors, including monthly income and expenses, prior access to music education, and current involvement in local music scenes. Keep in mind, IO Music Academy is a small, independently run school. We do not have outside investment or government funding; any financial aid we offer comes directly from IO. To start, we've created a form (linked below) to gauge the community's interest and expectations. In early January, we will roll out our full application process and begin approving candidates for Winter programs right away.
